- செய்ந்நன்றி அறிதல் – Gratitude
செய்யாமல் செய்த உதவிக்கு, வையகமும்
வானகமும் ஆற்றல் அரிது. 101
Heaven and earth are not adequate rewards
to one who has given help without receiving any.
காலத்தினாற்செய்த நன்றி சிறிதெனினும்,
ஞாலத்தின் மாணப் பெரிது. 102
A timely help though small in worth
is greater than the earth.
பயன் தூக்கார் செய்த உதவி நயன் தூக்கின்,
நன்மை கடலின் பெரிது. 103
Help given to others without expecting benefits,
is larger than the ocean in goodness.
தினைத்துணை நன்றி செயினும், பனைத்துணையாக்
கொள்வர் பயன் தெரிவார். 104
Even though help received is as small as millet,
those who received it will consider it larger
than a palm tree.
உதவி வரைத்தன்று உதவி; உதவி
செயப்பட்டார் சால்பின் வரைத்து. 105
The value of help does not depend on the amount,
but on the worth of the receiver.
மறவற்க மாசற்றார் கேண்மை, துறவற்க
துன்பத்துள் துப்பாயார் நட்பு. 106
One should not forget the friendship of the great,
and never abandon those who gave timely help.
எழுமை எழு பிறப்பும் உள்ளுவர், தங்கண்
விழுமந் துடைத்தவர் நட்பு. 107
The wise will remember for seven births,
the friendships of those who helped them
during distress.
நன்றி மறப்பது நன்றன்று; நன்றல்லது
அன்றே மறப்பது நன்று. 108
It is not good to forget good deeds.
It is good to forget immediately what is not good.
கொன்றன்ன இன்னா செயினும், அவர் செய்த
ஒன்று நன்று உள்ளக் கெடும். 109
Even if someone did death-like harm,
it is best to remember just the nice deeds
that they did in the past.
எந்நன்றி கொன்றார்க்கும் உய்வுண்டாம்; உய்வில்லை
செய்ந்நன்றி கொன்ற மகற்கு. 110
There is salvation for those who have killed many
virtues; there is no salvation for those who have
killed gratitude.
