Garlic – 1 tsp (julienned and chopped)
Ginger – 1 tsp (julienned and chopped)
Coconut oil 2 tbsp
Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
Green chillies – 2
Garam masala – 1/2 tsp (optional)
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves
Coconut Oil
Salt to taste
For Marination
Red Chilli powder – 3 tsp
Black Pepper powder – 2 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Lemon drops – 1 tsp
Water – Add little by little as required.
Method:
Cut the fish pieces into chunky cubes and coat it with the marinade. Set aside for 30 to 45 mins. Shallow fry the pieces in oil (preferably coconut oil) and keep aside.
Heat oil (preferably coconut oil) in a pan. Add fennel seeds and sauté till the aroma comes out. Add curry leaves. More the curry leaves, more the flavour of this recipe would be!
Add chopped onions, chopped green chillies and fry till turn golden brown. Then add chopped tomatoes and fry. Add ginger and garlic and little bit of salt. Add coriander powder, cumin powder and garam masala powder(optional) to this mixture and stir.
When the raw smell fades away and the whole mixture turns mushy, add the shallow fried fish pieces and mix well. Take care while sautéing not to break the fish pieces. At the same-time, make sure that the fish pieces get coated well with the masala mixture.
Check for salt and add required amount if needed. Also If you want the dish to be more spicy add additional chilli powder and pepper powder according to your taste.
Sprinkle curry leaves lavishly and serve hot.
