Dosai – South Indian Special

CRISPY, DELICIOUS & IRRESISTIBLE DOSAI (தோசை)..

Dosai
A wonderfully satisfying and healthy meal, Dosai is one of CNN Go’s World’s 50 best foods…..
The dosai is one of the most ancient dishes. The earliest origin of the dosai, as the early Tamil indicates, is around 1,500 years ago in Tamil Nadu, India , according to scientist T K Acharya. Dosai is a fermented crepe made from rice batter and black lentils. Besides being delicious, they are known for being nourishing and digestible (due to the fermenting process). Dosai appeal to the health conscious, as they are usually high in carbohydrates, low in calories and contains no sugar or saturated fats. As its constituent ingredients are rice and urad dal , it is also a source of protein. The fermentation process increases the vitamin B and vitamin C content.
Dosai are served with Sambhar and South Indian chutneys which are extremely flavorful and made from myriad combinations of coconut, peanuts, dal, tomato, fenugreek seeds, cilantro etc.
