I recently tried this easy and quick Milk Peda recipe, thanks to my friend Moumita, who is an expert in making sweets, especially milk sweets. It turned out to be super yum without much hassle and hard work, which of course is the basic criteria for someone like me who is lazy to try out cumbersome recipes. 🙂
Ingredients
Dry Milk Powder/Mawa 2 cups
Butter(Unsalted) 1 stick (1/2 cup or 8 tbsp)
Sweetened Condensed Milk 1 can (14oz or 400 gm)
Cardamom/Elaichi – 4 to 5 ( finely grounded)
Pistachios/ Badam (finely sliced)
Saffron strands (optional)
Method:
Soften/melt butter stick.
Take dry milk powder, butter, and condensed milk in a wide microwave-safe bowl and mix well without lumps. If you wish to add saffron strands, soak them in a tablespoon or two of hot milk and add it at this stage.
Microwave this mixture on high for 3 minutes. Make sure to stir the mixture well after each minute.
Remove the bowl from microwave oven and stir well.
Now add finely ground cardamom powder and mix well. Let the mixture cool down.
Once the heat recedes, the mixture cools down and has turned into a dough like consistency. Grease your palms, with ghee or butter and make little balls and slightly flatten them. Garnish these pedas with sliced pistachios/badams and strands of saffron if desired.
Place these pedas on a greased plate and refrigerate for a while. To give an appealing look, you can put them on colourful baking cups and serve chilled.
Tips:
- While grinding the cardamoms, add little sugar which would ease the process and you will get a fine powder.
- Adding Saffron strands in hot milk is optional.
