Recently we had an opportunity to enjoy the serene and scenic backwater boat ride in Poovar.
It was an amazing interlude with nature, while enjoying the breezy ride through the estuary. There were several boat ride package options. We chose the 90 minutes package which included 20 minutes break in the beach.
Poovar is a rare location find in Trivandrum district of Kerala state, South India. Unspoiled and amazingly unexplored, the most tranquil backwaters open out to the Arabian sea and a dream golden sand beach. Being a small coastal village surrounded by Neyyar river, the area is plentiful in well preserved local plants with hundreds of species of spices, birds, exotic flowers, complimented with banana and coconut groves. We were able to spot a variety of birds like Kingfisher, Cranes, Water crows and Vultures. The river bank is also filled with forest mangoes and pineapples. The point where the beach, river and backwaters meet is indeed a splendid sight to watch!
The estuary and the golden sand beach creates a collage of green yellow and blue.
