Hi Friends,
I’m Back with a new piece of craft after quite a while!! 🙂
Though I had valid reasons which kept me away from blogging for almost an year, I was always yearning to experiment something new in art or craft and post it here.
And so……… after doing a CTRL+ALT+DEL on myself, I restart my craft blogging afresh with this paper quilling, over a painting on a rectangular piece of Plywood, depicting a “SuperNova” or so I say!! 😉
For those who are inquisitive about what a Supernova is, I furnish below an excerpt from wikipedia:
A supernova is a stellar explosion that briefly outshines an entire galaxy, radiating as much energy as the Sun or any ordinary star is expected to emit over its entire life span, before fading from view over several weeks or months. (Image and text Courtesy: Wikipedia)
Actually this was made in extreme hurry-burry, as a last minute entry for an online craft competition, since I badly wanted to participate in it. Just participation mattered to me a lot at that time! Though inspired by an idea from Google, I ended up with my own painting and choice of colours.
Ok now let’s get back to the details.
Materials Required:
Rectangular piece of Plywood with polished edges
Mettalic Colours
Quilling paper strips – 3mm, 5mm and 7mm wide
Glue.(I used Fevicol)
Gloss
Method
To begin with, I ensured that the plywood surface was smooth, clean and dry.
Then I made the painting of the Supernova on the plywood using Fevicryl metalic and pearl colors and let it dry. Since I didn’t have time I hardly let the painting dry for 70 minutes, but if you are trying something like this please let the base painting dry completely.
Now I pasted the quilling paper strips over the design gradually, one curve after another, to bring out the flame effect. Paste wider strips for the outer flames gradually narrowing to the least wide strips for the innermost flames.
Instead of applying glue on the plywood, its better to apply glue on the quilling strips using a toothpick or a pointed tip object.
Thats’s it! Quilled Supernova is ready…. And one thing I admire about this quilling work is that, it appears kind of dynamic, with variation in colours and shades when viewed from different directions
Seems simple, but to be honest, patience gives perfection to this craft work, and I can hear you say ,”Oh come on girl! Ofcourse that’s the basis of any Art work!” 🙂
I think that I should have been even more patient to get better perfection. 🙂
