Pen Caddy – Craft by Shayne

Hi Folks,

This time, it’s not me who’s going to share my craft with you all… Instead it’s going to be my 5 1/2 year old son!!

On hearing about a craft competition for kids, in an online forum, I felt that it would be good if he took part in that and luckily he agreed to participate without hesitation (Surprise)

After going through lot of creative ideas, I finally settled down on this concept of making a Pen/Pencil Caddy from old used items and few easily available craft supplies.

Materials Used:

Rectangular piece of cardboard
Rectangular piece of sticky foam sheet
Used disposable plastic cup
Coloured ice cream sticks (craft sticks)
Pom poms (orange, blue and green)
Glue

Though I chose the concept for him, I was really surprised to see his interest and enthusiasm once he started working on it. Of course we had our own share of disagreements and  ‘dishyums’ while crafting, because he wanted to do it all by himself and didn’t want to heed to mom’s corrections and instructions. Not to mention that the working space was a total disaster after the project work and I had to clean up the whole mess! 🙁

Despite all these, it definitely is/was/would be sheer happiness to look at the end product, not because it is an artistic wonder, but since it showed me his patience, concentration and commitment. After all, participation is what really matters and we are happy to share our end product “Pen Caddy- Crafted by Shayne (Kindergarten) ”
